Cefic presents energy award to young MEP

Attending the 2018 MEP Awards, organised by the Parliament Magazine on March 21, Cefic Director General Marco Mensink presented the Energy Award to Danish MEP Morten Helveg Petersen

A 52-year-old Danish national, Morten Helveg Petersen is the ALDE Vice Chair of the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), and an active member of the Committee, having acted as rapporteur and shadow rapporteur on numerous reports.

Cefic was proud to be the 2018 sponsor for the Energy Award, as energy plays a central role for the chemical industry. We have long supported a truly functioning European energy market. Such a market will help keep prices down, ensuring that Europe’s industry remains competitive. So we particularly appreciate the efforts of the European institutions to conclude the negotiations on the Clean Energy Package. Chemistry’s innovative solutions will help achieve a low carbon and circular economy, facilitating the future transformation of modern society. We want to make sure it is Europe’s industry that delivers them.
